The beginning...
Ok, I am a 28 year old guy with a dream of running the New York marathon in 2007. Currently, this is what could be considered a bit of a pipe dream, because I am still recovering from a broken sesamoid bone that I broke 18 months ago, drink far too much coffee (WITH half and half) and as of now run 4 miles a week, 2 a miles a pop on the gym tread mill.
Fast forward to 2007, in my current physical state there is more chance of Brentford getting promoted to the Premier League than my sorry arse completing a 27 mile 'race' around NY.
So, here it is. My initial attempt at creating a community of sorts for those who wish to join me in my quest for success. Success being completing the 27 mile journey is a somewhat respectable time. Is under 4 hours respectable? Not quite sure at the moment, so open to suggestions!
More to the point, please add your comments, tips, advice, anything that might help a novice like me make 2007 a possibility!
Cheers!!!!
Chris

Well Chris, this anti-athlete can't give you many tips, but hey, I'm really good at cheering people on! It's good to have goals...good luck and congrats!
Thank you for your post on the foot-forum.
I believe that I am also suffering from a broken sesamoid (X-rays are showing nothing, but have been in pain since April). So far I can't even take my dog on a walk becase the ball of my foot gets all throbby/sensitive and the outside edge gets sore (from me subconsiously trying to stay off my sesamoids).
Your post of an 18-month recovery period gives me hope, I've been very concerned that my life will never be as it was (I have been an avid hiker and backpack traveller, and I work doing alot of field work - which is a no-go these days).
I was wondering if you could share with me what you did for your treatment, and how your recovery proceeded
I've got a J padded-othotic, some fancy NB walking shoes with big rockers, and ibuprofen.
Thks,
Andrea
